We stopped for a drink on the way
was this foreshadowing at play?
Talking father and son things,
now as Grandad and Dad it brings
new challenges, but this is all about the show,
just around the corner,
In the Arts Theatre,
Bijou and Petite,
subtle and discreet,
until we enter the Jungle,
up on stage and a pulled pint,
snap shots for the album,
we sit down with abandon
watching the show unfold,
bold chaps take to the stage,
playing music of my age
intermixed with instrumental skill,
with tap dance rhythm on the bill,
still the monologues remind us
of how the post covid world finds us,
beautiful harmonies highlight the simplicity
of the message, this bar was our altar,
to the social support system we pray,
and, if one or more should falter,
their fellows keep the blues at bay,
a final message about staying calm,
those pub friends may be your balm,
when troubles start to rumble
come join us in the Jungle.
