We slipped in, Friday lunchtime,
after perambulation, needing libation
only two weeks after opening
took a table, had a hankering
for bubbles and brie,
a little champagne reverie
cheese, meat and quince jelly
fig jam, tapenade and chutney,
delightful folk, made us smile,
gave advice, went that extra mile,
got talking about the grapes used today
meunier, pinot noir, chardonnay,
after the platter, we natter
concerning fashion and the fickle nature
of the general public's taste,
how Cristal is over hyped,
all that expense is a waste,
understand the variety
trust the small vineyards ability
to produce a tasty brew
what a fabulous crowd, we knew
we would be back, to sample bin ends
and remember to tell all our friends.
